Reliance rigorously pursues a double bottom line objective of Profitability and Development, as such we are continually looking to work with other organizations who share one or both of these objectives. The FASE Project (Fight Against Social Exclusion) agreed to work with Reliance as equal partners in development, cemented by a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the 14th of February 2007.
The FASE Project is an initiative of the UNDP, which targets women’s groups, micro and small entrepreneurs, youths and small business associations. Its objectives are to empower women and youths as well as micro-entrepreneurs to develop capacities, sustainable income generating activities and viable micro-enterprises, as well as specific social protection schemes; To strengthen the capacity of public, private and civil society organizations to provide efficient technical assistance to support savings and micro-entrepreneurs; To Support national capacity to formulate policies and strategies to reduce poverty, reinforce synergy among poverty related development programmes in order to respond adequately to the needs of the target groups.
The Reliance - FASE partnership plays a pivotal role in assisting Reliance to deliver a greater service outreach to the unbanked. Reliance will offer credit and deposit facilities as well as Business Development and Advisory Services to beneficiaries of FASE.
